      Pros

      Good pay, great people: the employees are generally very grateful to be at LBNL and they share that passion with the people around them. Excellent work opportunities: some of the most cutting edge research is performed here, the projects you find yourself involved in are hard to match elsewhere.

      Cons

      Individuals without phd's are not valued much by the organization. The career structure of the lab is targeted towards advanced degrees and it does not provide much room for advancement for those with only a Bachelors degree.

      Pros

      Very smart and hardworking colleagues. A great place to begin a science or research career. Easy to maintain life/work balance.

      Cons

      Almost no amenities commonly found in workplaces, such as coffee or tea. Govenment bureaucracy is fairly deeply rooted. Obtaining funds for travel, conferences, training and office supplies can be complex and time-consuming.
