I've worked at LBL for about 1.5 years as a remote software developer. So far, it has been a great experience. My managers have been very supportive, and I am given a fair amount of autonomy (which help mitigate burnout). I realized experiences in other departments may vary, but the Lab as whole seems very focused on supporting its employees. The benefits are decent: - Health insurance is comparable to other large organizations I've worked at. - 3 weeks paid vacation. - Vested in University of California after 5 years or you have the option of 401k.
