Pros

Co-workers are nice; lots of opportunities to volunteer

Cons

Superintendent and administration require so many data dives there's no time for anything (like teaching!) except looking at numbers. The continuous improvement policy for kids doesn't align to STAAR results (where there isn't continuous improvement). Parents can totally disregard teachers' and admins' authority by calling district offices and complaining. Kids are shuffled through the system because it's easier than actually dealing with issues. Discipline is inconsistent and lacking. I was an employee and a parent and the best thing I did was move my family out of the district--and find a new job!

Teaching here is hard

Pros

Decent pay, good school reputations

Cons

New superintendent is more focused on test scores and attendance records than the actual kids themselves. Some schools have unsupportive admin that should not have a job in administration. Careers page on the ISD website does not tell you the school that is hiring, just the general area.
