Pros

Legal workers are unionized. Benefits are great with no co-pays. Manage own case load. Great experience if applying to law school.

Cons

Experience differs depending on what unit you are in. My unit was great and felt that I learned alot. But I know of other paralegal casehandlers that are overworked.

Pros

• Generous PTO (20 vacation, 5 personal, and unlimited sick time to start) • Incredible health insurance • Invigorating, impactful work • Working so closely with so many talented, dedicated, and like-minded legal advocates • Great work/life balance (generally) • Participating in PSLF

Cons

• Little to no career growth (staff attorneys = staff attorneys; social workers = social workers, etc.) • Inflexible and antiquated telecommuting policy (4 days/1 wfh) • The worst part of a state job (ex: the bureaucracy to get anything done) • The worst part of a non-profit (we should accept below a living wage for the “mission” and the “passion” alone) • Stagnant wages (most people, aside from attorneys, work 2 jobs)
