Pros

Everybody is fresh out of college, it's very easy to fit in and everyone gets along. Average benefits, same as any other company, 401k with 3% match.

Cons

Pay. By far pay is the worst. Alright for a T1 (0-1 years experience), T2 status (2+yrs) or anything higher I wouldn't bother applying if you want better pay. The issue with the department is that they want people to take on a lot of responsibility with little pay. They aren't competitive at all. Even if you are promoted from within the pay isn't much. They hire fresh graduates as contractors paying them 55k-60k. Once they convert them to full time hires, salary increase is based on that 55k-60k. The guys I worked with get a increased percentage based on that 55k-60k after they are hired directly. Most of them saw an increase from 60k to 63k. Keep in mind this is after a year of being with the company. Other distribution companies have their starting salaries at 68k if not more. Every pay increase is based off of the number you start as a contractor even after you get converted to full time, it is based on the number you start, so aim high and negotiate to at least 66-68k. This is the same case for T2 and T3. They will try to keep you as much as they can at a T2 to avoid having a pay increase to T3. Only come here if you are starting. They will promote from the inside as they can't find anybody to take higher roles for less. This is due to the work being very easy and straight-forward. The job here is summarized to two words. Pole replacements. Work literally consists of replacing single poles like for like. It's just copy-pasting. The work is super easy which makes it the perfect place for people looking to get experience, but don't expect good pay for it. This is just to get your feet wet and leave. The more experienced folk, you will be underpaid. You will find no one here at a T3 level or higher because the pay isn't there, and there's reason for it, the pay is easy enough that a T1 can do it as effective. Department mentality is to hire unexperienced as they won't mind the pay and need the experience. Company always promises that they are growing 4x more. Bonuses only exists for T3s and higher which is why they try to keep everyone at T2 or lower. They take the labor of the fruit from all the T1's pumping jobs and don't compensate. If you start here you will expected to do more than just design. You will be expected to take on other tasks such as creating work orders, do HR statuses for others (like background checks - which by the way, surprises me as they have a designer doing this and don't pay for an hr assistant to do this), you will be typing documents on processes, automating/code, checking other peoples work, etc. You will be expected to take on these responsibilities without any compensation on pay. These tasks will be added on to you with the expectation that your work load, that you were hired to do, doesn't decline. Word of advice - Great for beginners, if your having a hard time finding something apply here, do your time and leave. For those that have experience, don't bother if you want more pay, if you want to have experience managing and doing other tasks apply here, but be prepared to not get paid for it.

Pros

- Got to travel around a bit - Work remote - Leidos corporate IT is very responsive (Not the local SD&A IT) - Leidos pays per diem and travel costs very quickly

Cons

This is specifically for SD&A, Leidos has separate divisions that work completely independent to one another. STAY AWAY FROM SD&A, IT IS GOING DOWN THE DRAIN! Morale extremely low - SD&A has been in decline for years. It started as L3 SDS, but had major cuts and laid off all their manufacturing personnel and outsourced their production to Sanmina Corp (that never deliver on time, and get little support from SD&A). They merged with L3Harris, so more cuts. Then got sold to Leidos, then even more cuts. Because of that and the toxic workplace culture, the turnover rate is extremely high. There were several people that started with me and quit before their first year. The main offices in Tewksbury, MA and St. Petersburg, FL were eerily empty even when I first started. Cut-Throat, Back-stabbing, and Vindictive Culture - Most employees are ex-military, and if you aren't, you're not part of the club. There is a very selfish egocentric attitude at this division. Employees do not share information, they work for themselves. Managers turn a blind eye to harassment issues. Even when reported to HR and Leidos Ethics, they didabsolutely nothing. Somehow the company prides itself on being a "Most Ethical Company", it's not true and just a PR stunt. Poor Quality Product - The product is very unreliable and cheaply made. They don't invest anything into R/D, but just recycle old bad ideas. There are several active lawsuits and huge contracts were lost due to non-functioning products. Poor Leadership - The new president of the company didn't last two years, just abruptly left without a word being said. Then was replaced by someone from another failing security detection company. It's highly likely this company is going to get broken up and sold off.

Pros

My on-site supervisor and his supervisor are amazing people who recognize that they have very little input in how the company at large is run. Both men are in the same boat as the rest of us, making them awesome "bosses" most of the time (see below). A majority of my Ledios co-workers are amazing and we have a great time together.

Cons

Where to start? I work on a military installation, and the contractors at my command are Leidos. We have to work on many holidays that many professional americans have off (Veterans Day, Columbus Day, MLK, etc). I do get 3 floating holidays, but I need to save those for the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve. We do get 8 major holidays off that we are paid. Sometimes the command will "close" the office to make sure the duty officer doesn't have to come in, forcing over 20 of us to take the day off. Leidos gives us the option of taking the day as PTO or unpaid any time the command is closed (like for weather or the above scenario). I get 15 days of PTO a year (been here 3 years) that I have to accrue. That PTO is for vacations, sick time, base closures, etc. All of the health insurance options are high deductible plans. And I mean high. Don't get sick or have surgery, and you will be ok. The Leidos supervisors are afraid to irritate the gov't (the customer) and don't call BS as much as they should when we are discriminated against in the command I work in (we are long-term employees - some of us have been here more than 10 years in the same position). We have been called deragatory names to our faces because we are contractors and our bosses report it but do not push for the offending party to be held acountable (I get it - if we lose the contract, they lose their jobs too, but still, the bottom dollar is almighty at Leidos). We used to have staff meetings 2-3 times a year where they bought us lunch or breakfast (depending on the time of day). The meetings still happen, but they don't feed us anymore. Again, its a small thing, but it is a reminder that saving a couple hundred bucks is more important than making 20+ employees feel valued. I was told I had the best annual review (and it really was a very good one). I still only got a 3% raise. It doesn's matter if I work my tail off and shine like a supernova or barely do my work, I am going to get a 3% raise. Makes me not try so hard.
