Pros

Leidos is the "science" half of Science Applications International Corp (SAIC), when SAIC split into two companies. If you are a scientist or highly technical engineer looking for intense challenges and smart coworkers, look at Leidos first -- the other, less science-intense half kept the name SAIC, so don't be misled. I worked there for a decade and enjoyed almost all of it. Got to work on heavy scientific topics that I wouldn't have been able to do elsewhere -- at other companies the really fun science gets done by the few eminent PhDs, leaving crumbs for everyone else. At Leidos my experience was usually plenty of science. Sometimes more than I could handle. Projects are ambitious and challenging.

Cons

Chasing government contracts is a real drag. Bureaucracy of govt funding is getting worse, funding $$ drying up, and you wind up hunting for charge numbers to work for. Turns into a stressful drudgery after a while -- it can be hard to concentrate on your current contract while continually worrying about the next one. Job security is only as solid as that next contract. Work can be stressful, certainly is more than 40 hours a week. Tight deadlines can lead to lots of overtime.

Losing their edge

Pros

Reasonable work life balance - immediate supervisors are good folks to work with pay is OK

Cons

Most positions are period of performance (POP) meaning if the contract is lost you lose your job; no bench and a very passive re-assignment search staff meaning you have to find your next job pretty much by yourself and almost every job now requires TS/SCI . with Poly which is not something you can get or Leidos will provide - they do not grow their employees into a next job or career path. Plus if you work on the customer site you are quickly forgotten by middle and senior management. They have another merger going on which will make things worse in the short term.

Pros

It's a stable job, very flexible with your schedule( you can take a day of as long as you meet the 40 hrs of the week). It has a professional Corporate environment and paid tuition up to 5500 a year.

Cons

The business plan of the company is to hire entry level engineers over experienced engineers in order to charge the customer the engineer rate and at the same time keep its costs down. Because of this , raises are very low, we are replaceable so management does not encourage growth. The managers don't have management experience and there's no sense of seniority or mentorship. Company pays very low compared to other companies similar to Leidos. However it is a good company to get entry level experience and go find something else after 2-5 years. I wouldn't recommend it to stay if you want to make a career out of it. Low level management discourages any sort of contact with higher management. Power distribution and transmission is very boring and can get very monotonous. Management doesn't share information about possible bonuses, instead they keep it to themselves so that management gets a higher %.
