      Sad to leave, yet knew it was coming

      Pros

      Not having to work at plant, Fun at times Work was very challenging

      Cons

      They have been doing personnel cut-backs in the hundreds each time. Very hard to plan on long term employment due to reductions in force Managers used Florida's right to work status as a constant threat, will fire for no needed reason No room for company growth Jobs are based on who you know, not what you know. Very poor communication

      Pros

      9/80 work week, every other Friday off. Most management is hands off and if you are competent and a self starter you will succeed.

      Cons

      9/80 work! It's listed a a pro during recruiting, then after you're hired you are badgered to work on "Fridays Off". If you do not, it is used against during yearly reviews. Lots of online training, for example ethics, that is mandatory for employees. You quickly learn this is simply a checkoff mark required for government contracts. Senior Management doesn't actually follow the training themselves.

      Pros

      Great benefits, salary, and people. I enjoyed working there for several years and don't regret one second.

      Cons

      Hard economic times are really reeking havoc on the company's bottom-line. Difficult to say from one day to the next if your position will be retained. Hopefully this is short lived and DRS will regain its' status as a defense contractor.
