Pros

DRS Tactical was an interesting mix of military and commercial efforts and a great work environment, despite a few issues which could have been managed. For an engineer getting their job done, the pay, benefits, and 9/80 work schedule remain positive.

Cons

Merging Tactical into DRS RSTA was a disaster. Lousy work environment. All cutting edge and commercial work halted to chase after declining military budgets. Best practices and processes ignored. Layoffs of good workers while unproductive ones stay on. Falling behind in technology. Bloated teams make sluggish progress if any.

I loved working at DRS. The people were wonderful.

My team was great. Everyone worked hard and had outstanding work ethic. Leaders led by example. I loved all of the people I worked with.

Cons

No comp-time was offered for salaried employees. Huge dichotomy in pay between men and women (although my boss claimed it was 1000 times better there than at other defense contractors). Poor work-life balance. Expectation that the office comes first.
