Upper management tends to use bully methodology

Pros

Good Benefits, fair pay. There is a lot to learn, and a good place to start your career. Unfortunately do to the frequent moral beatings, Leviton is merely a stepping stone instead of long term workplace.

Cons

Very stressful work environment, upper management constantly makes threats and belittles the workers. Difficult to advance unless you know the right people or are in the family. Upper management no longer treats the employees as people, but more like worker drones. Procedures are set forth to follow but are jumped when it is inconvenient for management; the employees are then blamed when things go wrong.

Pros

Not a lot of expectations required to get a good review.

Cons

I've been at Leviton for over 6+ years now at the Network Solutions, Bothell, Washington location and things are getting worse here. We're like an airplane without a captain as pilot or a co-pilot. For starters our strategy is just short term, modeled to fight fires or slap a band aid on it. Not only that, the strategy or whatever you want to call it tends to change often based on the sudden mood changes of the VP/GM. We seem to by trying to position ourselves not as industry leaders but to be 3rd or 4th best in the industry. How can we survive with that strategy? Also the once friendly work environment is no longer here anymore. At times, it's just depressing working here because of the disarray. People around this division don't want to offer suggestions for fear of being called out or ridiculed in meetings. Turnover in some groups is never ending like the Supply Chain group. The morale in many groups has declined. Good people have either left the company or being pushed out thanks to the Director of Operations. Some with over 20 years of good service. This is no way to build a happy & loyal team. The mindset here seems to be old school, like before pc's and laptops were ever used. The people who join from previous high tech or progressive companies seem to get frustrated working here from the narrow minded, top down, do it sr. mgt. only way approach.

Pros

Comprehensive Benefits Package, Responsive Corporate Office

Cons

Old-fashioned, top-down management styles seem to be prevalent here, nearly all of Sr. Management will tell you they're "too busy" to coach employees, 3% is the highest performance increase one can receive, very anti-union (to the point where it seems like they are scared of something), pay inequities for production employees have been allowed to continue for years (there is absolutely no urgency among Execs to correct this even after the passing of Oregon's Equal Pay law), be prepared to produce more write-ups for employees here than you have ever had to produce in your career because managers will not coach, a strongly held belief that what has worked for the company over the past century will continue to work into the future, but the company cannot retain new top talent.

Unfortunately your very short tenure with Leviton has not proven satisfactory. As noted, Leviton has comprehensive benefits programs. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, aside from the health and safety of our employees being of utmost concern and importance, we remain focused on employee compensation, career development, and engagement.
