Pros

Size, financial backing & active market growth. High exposure to diversity and integration. Great Boston location and building amenities. Many senior managers worked their way up the ladder.

Cons

Not overly great at on boarding new staff with ample training and introductions. Heavy reliance on email communications. Weak integration of new grads.

Pros

-Great benefits program - 401K matching & a Pension after 5 years vested -Flexible Spending Account -Employee Assistance Program - managed by 3rd party to keep confidential -Excellent health insurance

Cons

-They are great at finding ways not to pay their employees what they are worth -Health insurance is fairly pricey, but worth it -Their current reorganization of the claims department leaves many people fearful of their jobs -Unreasonable workload in claims department -There is not a structured training program for new hires, so adding a new person to the team is difficult. Co-workers are expected to train new employees along with get their current workload complete. My team currently has 3 members who have been working for the company for at least 4 months and are still taking minimal (as few as 3) claims per day, leaving the rest of the team swamped and unable to meet customer demands. -Constantly change job description and demands without adjustment of pay. -I got "promoted" but it was considered a lateral move so there was no pay increase. Now that job is being changed to take on more claims (especially more complex claims) and I am still making what I made in an entry level position. -There is no negotiation for pay increases. You get what they say. It doesn't matter about your education, achievements, or the challenges that you have faced.

Pros

If you work hard, then you will see results. The income potentential is great, if you work hard and sell policies. You can earn great money without having to move into supervision (you can earn more than your supervisor and even manager). Great work/life balance.

Cons

LM is not the cheapest insurance company so it's hard to compete with othe companies like GEICO etc. We don't have a rate for everyone like some other companies out there. LM targets education, home ownership, etc to give a decent rate.
