Good job with flaws

Pros

The company was always good to me personally, things move much faster than in a city and therefore the libraries are able to have new and exciting things. The libraries are beautiful and stocked with diverse collections.

Cons

In the end it all still boils down to dollars and cents, it is run like a business and that leads to a lack of qualified staff (i.e. empty reference desks/lack of MLIS librarians), many branches run without enough staffing, they underpay, and overwork the staff they have.

Pros

You work with great people and help and serve the community. Job can* be easy at times. Other than that none.

Cons

No room for advancement. Management has no idea how to treat or pay employees. You have to earn vacation and sick time but you get "punished" if you use it. People have been there for 10+ years (before LSSI took over) and have the same pay as new hires. Management constantly looks over your shoulder and has no respect for employees. Supervisors gossip and talk behind peoples backs and treat them unfairly.

Pros

The opportunity to truly make a difference in my community by helping others. Dedicated professionals. Great teamwork. I have great benefits here.

Cons

Lot's of changes happening at "the top" of the organization. Communication is not always great but has been improving. Finally getting better support from HR. Pay is too low for the work we do.
