Pros

Regular pay twice a month via Direct Deposit Offer Vacation & Sick time.

Cons

Other reviews mention getting advanced training to develop skills, they didn't have the funds to pay for training. They pay far below the current market rate in the area.

Decent first job!

Pros

It was good as a first job. I worked with a great team and was given a lot of opportunities to showcase my existing skills and build new ones at the branch level despite the fact that I only worked part-time.

Cons

There were not a lot of long-term growth opportunities available, especially if you’re wanting to pursue library work as a career. If you’re looking to work for a company with good compensation and benefits for employees, I don’t think this is the one I’d go with personally. However, if you’re just starting out in the workforce or are studying/working towards an MLIS, working for LSSI is a decent option for skill and resume building at least.

Pros

The people are truly the heart of this company — smart, innovative, and genuinely passionate about public libraries. There's a deep respect for the role libraries play in their communities, and that shows in every decision made. Leadership is open to change, and there's a strong culture of collaboration and communication. There's also a lot of room for professional growth, which has kept things exciting and rewarding over the years.

Cons

Collaborating with colleagues and clients across the country can be complex at times, especially with differing time zones, priorities, and communication styles. However, leadership is proactive in creating clear channels for communication and collaboration, which helps keep everyone aligned and supported.
