Pros

You have the potential to have lasting impact on the lives of people

Cons

I worked here for over eight years, and honestly, I can't believe I stuck around that long. The organization and its leadership are full of toxicity—gaslighting, gossip, and abusive behavior are all too common. I worked under multiple leaders and across different areas, and the same issues showed up everywhere. This place is not a healthy work environment. I'd strongly recommend doing ministry elsewhere.

Pros

You will be challenged to grow spiritually, emotionally, and as a leader. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will have the opportunity to grow in your personal relationships. You will have opportunities for advancement and recognition for a job well done.

Cons

It's fast paced - like really fast! You can't coast, you'll have to push yourself and lead others along the way. You never arrive - there's still more work to be done, relationships to build, people to empower and equip, and lost, hurting, broken people who don't know Jesus.

Pros

It goes against culture to say this, but I see my co-workers as family. If I'm having an off day, the first question that is asked is not, "Leave your personal life at home. You have work to do." Instead, I am almost always met with, "How are you doing? Are the kids good? Need to talk?" I know when I walk in the door, I will be met with grace and trust from 95% of the people that work here. It is truly an incredible place to work. On top of that, I can't speak highly enough about the leadership team here. I am a "low man on the totem pole," but even with 1000+ employees, I know they all know who I am and care about me as a person. Finally, the work ethic here is insane. There are truly some of the hardest working, brightest minds here doing their best work day in and day out.

Cons

This is a fun place to work, but if you expect the fun to be your only motivation for the long haul, you might not last more than two years. At any given moment, 95% of the staff are doing more than their job title suggests. This isn't because we are forced to, but because we choose to run lean and be good stewards. While headcount isn't a taboo topic, we do avoid increasing it when possible. Some people cite burnout as their reason for leaving, but I believe this can sometimes be an excuse rather than the reality. They may simply want a job where they can clock in and out while doing the minimum. If I had to sum up a con, it would be that you are expected to perform at a high level and continuously develop yourself. Otherwise, you risk falling behind.
