Living the dream

Pros

Cheesy title I know. Living the dream is a phrase I use all the time just in life. I believe God has equipped me to build His Kingdom and strengthen the Church and be a light for folks and I know I could be doing that anywhere. And I thank God every day that Life.Church is where I am. My boss is amazing. I have real friends. The vision and message is clear. I feel cared about not just because of how I'm treated by peers and leadership, but because of the benefits package, development opportunities, and review structure. This is a fantastic place to work. I'm unapologetically biased.

Cons

I've had different bosses in my time here. Some have not been the type of leader I serve under today. Leadership styles aren't always consistent across locations and departments, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Pros

I loved the developmental culture. You were always given feedback to help you improve as a leader. Every Thursday we had communication practice to help develop our public speaking skills. I also loved the ability to grow with other staff members through programs such as Operational All-Staff and Family Reunion (which was a blast!).

Cons

One thing that was really weird to me was the lack of “spirituality.” We had staff meetings weekly and I only recall two meetings where we actually prayed or could bring up prayer requests. No one prayed for each other or seemed to care how everyone was doing spiritually. There was also zero follow-up to people who gave their hearts to Christ which meant there was no way to pastor those people and really help disciple them. They just raised their hand, we counted them, they walked out the door, and we would do it all again the next week.
