Pros

The company itself is very ahead of the game in terms of up to date research and education in exercise, nutrition, metabolism, etc. Lots of opportunities to broaden your education and multiple specialty positions within personal training - metabolic technician, assessment specialist, etc

Cons

High stress environment - since its in a luxury gym setting, members have a sense of entitlement. Within the company there is a lot of pressure to reach certain revenue goals every month. Lots of busy work business planning, procedures changing very frequently, and there is an expectation of a 50 hr work week, and working when you are not being paid for that hour. A lot of work for very little pay. You will think this job is the most amazing thing ever for the first 2 months or so since they brainwash you into thinking you've hit the jackpot, and then you will start to realize that you're overworked, tired, and burnt out.

Pros

excellet facility, if you are member you are treated like gold. everything offered for the price truly is a mind blowing value....they did get this part right.

Cons

horrible treatment of employees/managers. benefits and pay are terrible...7 days off per year. no holiday pay, no sick pay. there isn't even a break area for the employees to take a few minute break....that should have been my first indication of what i was getting myself into. as a manager you are expected to work 50-70 hrs, 6 days per week and forget your summer if you plan on having one...it is the busiest time and everyone is required to work. they make EVERYTHING difficult...their purchasing systems are absolutely mind numbing...it take weeks to get anything and then weeks to get the vendor paid. forget trying to keep a budget there is NEVER enough money for the way the club should be taken care of. when you spend money to keep the club looking nice it just comes out of your bonus. promises from upper management are un-kept.

Pros

To be a good advocate of exercise & proper nutrition, and educate people on these. It is better than most neighborhood gyms if you can negotiate the best membership price available at the time.

Cons

Was very very unprofessional most of the time. Supervisors/ managers were very inappropriate towards others. The ladder for promotions was very corrupt with not much growth potential unless there was some sort of political gain for (most of the) the supervisor. Management and corporate executives have no integrity here. This is not a career path, it is a place for entertaining high school lunch room drama. You could probably get the same experience by being a cafeteria lady and eavesdropping on the faculty's (managers) "inside" conversations or listen to the students (employees) inappropriate in the lunch line...or be a Life Time Fitness employee and eventually you will witness it all. It's sad and depressing for the Life Time Fitness employees that are hard-working and professional.
