Pros

Flexible hours, free membership, short shifts if you're part-time. Good gig for students. Not something you should do long term though

Cons

They are always looking for a way to cut costs, meaning a way to fire you. Absolutely must treat it like nothing but a job because they do not care about you, the extra work you do, or your personal life. Especially if they can find someone to replace you with someone they're friends with or who will take cheaper pay. Do exactly what is asked, when if is asked, even if it seems like other employees get away with doing less than the minimum because they will fire you with no notice and let you find out on your own. Then they won't admit that they did it and they'll lie about it. Very poor culture here.

Pros

I used to think working out was a pro but honestly it’s nothing different than anywhere else.

Cons

No raises for leaders/managers. (Do not listen to the corporate response to this. I could talk to my manager, the vps, presidents and c-suite but this company does not believe in raises. You’re at the best club surpassing all expectations?!! Guess what?! Your performance target payout will go down YOY without fail). 5 days of PTO for the first 3 years! Despite how often we all work 6 days a week. Work holidays but can’t get a hold of anyone at corporate. Layoffs and removal of regional positions has led to no support whatsoever. GMs don’t know everything nor should they. They only care about their own bonuses which why wouldn’t they? It hurts the culture and puts unrealistic pressure they won’t help with. I get nauseous before the start of every new week. I have been scolded and put downby someone who slept with multiple direct reports who all got promotions. If you are mediocre or downright horrible leader, but good looking, fit and can chat a bit with anyone, you will get a promotion while everyone under you suffers. HR is practically non existent. Employees can’t get a hold of leave of absence. Employee relations is never in sync with each other. It’s not until the GM steps in can you get support. Harrassment, discrimination, racism is not handled at all. I cannot wait for the day when a corporate whistle blower comes out about the treatment they go through that trickles down (ceo is a bit angry. Great idea man, not a great leader). They say there is a culture of care. Well if care mean clubs and regions are led by fear then yes there is. Multiple times we are told we should be an afraid everyday… even when the club is top performing. I will never suggest working here, to anyone. It’s hard to even suggest being a member knowing what happens behind the scenes and the ridiculous rate for a poorly built club. Run run run
