Uncomfortable Work Environment

Pros

The company atmosphere for a team chemistry standpoint is decent; granted, better than other places I have worked at. Although 2 departments I have worked in have been miserable experiences, the other 2 departments I have worked in (including 1 currently) have provided exceptional team chemistry.

Cons

The atmosphere from a corporate standpoint is miserable and leaves me feeling as if I am standing on a sinking ship. Leadership has changed hands numerous times. The company names changes are obvious methods to clear up some of their previous scandals. The most aggravating point of all is the pay is NOT worth it. In my 6 years at the company, I have never seen such low-balled annual salary increases compared to the entirety of my career. For a company that claims to still be making a few billion dollars of profit for 2 or 3 years straight, our 0.5% salary increases aren't justifying that.

You deserve better

Pros

Some of the people there are actually competent, want to succeed, and have fun at the same time. They’re desperate to hire people, so new hires can hopefully negotiate a higher salary (go for 20% more than they offer!)

Cons

Management is so out of touch. Terrible pay and they make you think that you don’t deserve any more than what they have to offer. I didn’t get offered a promotion until I put in my two weeks and suddenly there was a title and money on the table — same old, crappy corporate strategy — get the most out of you for the least amount of money.

Pros

A new direction in the past few years is genuinely trying to elevate employees. Much better focus than in the past should help them be more competitive in a space that is getting more crowded with fewer growth opportunites.

Cons

Multiple rounds of 1% or less layoffs is feeling a bit too regularly. Yet to be see if it is an unspoken plan, but appears to be very focused trimming of higher cost employees and transitioning work to offshore business where possible.
