To start with, the pay is abysmal compared to other workplaces in the area. This company uses bespoke yet outdated and broken software that requires a lot of training and is incredibly frustrating to use. It's clear that the company has no interest in making work easier and more accessible for their employees. I believe the employee salary should reflect how skilled the job is and how frustrating their bespoke software is to use. I also mentioned how frustrating and outdated the software was, and was told that different members of staff have requested newer/improved software to replace it with, but this was ignored by upper management and any requests were shrugged off. It was clear that they thought "if it isn't broken, don't fix it". But the problem is, it's completely broken, and it needs fixing. An example of outdated and discontinued software being used daily is a 2004 version of an image-editing program. This product was discontinued and stopped receiving support way back in 2013. This company is determined to stick with outdated software, whilst other companies are using industry-leading software such as Adobe Photoshop. When I began my training, I was being trained by one person which seemed to go very well for a couple of weeks, but then someone else took over and trained me instead. The teaching styles of each person were completely different which made the entire training experience difficult and confusing. One person would tell me one method of doing something, and the other would tell me it was incorrect. Towards the end of my employment, I suffered a mental health crisis due to circumstances out of my control and needed to take 3 days off from work to focus on my health. After returning to the office, I received no support from management regarding my mental well-being and was invited to a "meeting" where I was dismissed for "poor performance". I tried to argue that the training was very difficult, due to having two mentors teaching me two different ways of using the software, but this wasn't acknowledged.

Heartless upper management - they do not care when staff of over 5 years start leaving left, right and center. When our recent high staff turnover was brought up the person was given some nonsense about "it being worse in some other companies" rather than addressing the real issues as to why these people have left/in the process of leaving. In fact whenever we are asked if anyone has any issues now they are met with silence for fear of backlash or smarmy attacks. "You get put in your place" or lied to if you speak up about anything. Promises regarding pay have been broken. You will not get a pay rise even when you have just worked your backside off to help bring in more clients that also give you additional work every time a new client is secured. We get fobbed off with the occasional "Pizza day" or night out drinking that is seen as reward enough for all our hard work. Been here for 5 years and found out that new starters are earning £3000 more than me. These are the same new starters that I was being asked to help train up. Absolutely no pathway to go beyond the starting content roles, you hit a glass ceiling as soon as you join. The pay is terrible for how skilled our jobs actually are, or at least the old staff on the old pay numbers is. They are refusing to make us equal with the new starters for no logical reason, when this was brought up we were told our contracts have nothing to do with new starters in 2022. We were continually bombarded with mental wellbeing advice among the other cliché corporate culture rules to live by, but I know of at least two people who have struggled with their mental health (partly because of this job) and when they told management about it they were attacked rather than helped. And to top it off we have been asked to stop leaving glassdoor reviews because it is disrespectful to the upper management.
