Pros

great place for learning, supportive colleagues, some fun social events, you can do lots of overtime if you want, some opportunity for employee advancement and growth

Cons

low pay compared to other companies in the same industry, stressful and hectic environment, long working hours, mandatory overtimes, it is hard to keep a balance between work and life

Pros

Great place to learn. They tend to hire inexperienced workers & Co-op students. Good place to get some experience. They do have benefits, some benefits don't kick in till 2 years of employment (dental coverage increased after 2 years, etc.). The benefits are OK....not nearly as good as other companies offer. If you have other employment opportunities or already have a stable full time job elsewhere, DO NOT consider working at Linamar. If you are new with no work experience, stay 2-3 years, and look for other opportunities.

Cons

Health & Safety standards are a nightmare. Little regard for line worker's input. Fire anyone that might be in favour of unions. Little room for advancement. You need to play the political game to advance/receive pay increases. You'll notice that family members of management get advancements or good positions. Hard workers are expected to work harder. Very little work life balance. Any requests outside of 2 weeks vacation is frowned upon. Your vacation may not even be approved if you do not submit your request well in advance. Also, you will be forced to use your vacation during plant shut downs. Should you take a sick day, or arrive 5 minutes late, you'll get fired or laid off at the next possible opportunity. Terminations and Lay-offs occur frequently (both salaried & hourly). Huge revolving door, lots of temps and contract workers.
