Pros

Four day work week, this is extremely refreshing and rewarding. Inspiring students, it's awesome to see the light bulb on. I love to see when a student is struggling with a concept or idea, but once explained in the right way it clicks. This moment is awesome! Some decent equipment, if it works.

Cons

Minimal to no training, you are expected to go from tech to teacher immediately. They will train you on the computer systems just enough to get you to struggle, then let you loose. You will be thrown infront of twenty plus students and expected to act. You will get frustrated with a lack of training and communication. When training arrived, it was two months into my employment. We were instructed to let the students teach themselves. This would be done by taking book work and assigning sections to students, then get the students to explain the sections to each other. This seems like a very odd approach considering we are the "instructor." If the students fails a test or exam, will they put the fault on their peer or the person being paid to "instruct." Extreme expectations, you are not given any help in designing your class. You are given an empty "shell" to fill with assignments and labs. The labs that are given to you are lack luster, or have very improper instructions or procedures. Also, you are required to produce and procure materials, equipment and anything else needed for each and every class. While also, being given a two day notice or shorter on what class you will be teaching next. Leaving little to no time to prepare if it's content you haven't taught before. Finally you are also the students discipline, the office does not have the teachers back. This completely erodes the teacher-student relationship. Outdated systems/equipment, the equipment in these schools are from the 90s maybe early 2000s. Most tools that are for class use are from the 80s and 90s and most don't work. Falsely advertised HVAC equipment, most of the equipment in this school did not work. Boilers, oil systems, radiant heaters and beyond were all in non working condition but advertised as something the students would work on. They also advertise simulations, and so much more that is not delivered. Expensive benefits, minimal 401k input.
