Pros

2 week training with pay Higher than minimum wage pay Potential for benefits Great opportunity to gain experience working with kids 1 hour lunch Clinicians have good rapport Great opportunity to bond with students Academy focuses on guided lessons of McGraw-Hill online curriculum software Research backed program that often really works Can be very rewarding Great stepping stone to other jobs in education and tutoring Fast moving environment Promote from within Discount offered for services for family

Cons

Disorganized Lack of support from management on student issues and professional growth and development. Can have difficulty making sure a break is provided, occasionally resulting in missed breaks. While there is a missed break form, it is not widely advertised and discouraged. Constantly changing schedule, often abruptly Constantly short-staffed You will work over forty hours a week It's teaching in a school and reading intervention program for kids with disabilities without the supports and resources of an actual school Often takes students above it's capabilities to support and manage High staff turnover Difficult call-out policy with no extra staff built in the schedule for protection. Days with staff call-outs are hectic and difficult with stretched-thin staff. Few promotions available and with little support during those transitions Most staff does not have other education experience (specifically lacking in prior special ed experience) Mismanaged with managers having no or limited previous experience Very sterile feeling Exhausting
