Do not recommend for more than temp work

Pros

The kids are great. It can be a fun work environment at times. The technique for teaching is very good/effective. You can see some great progress with your kiddos. Good for a temporary placeholder job (while you look for something better)

Cons

Very strange and cult-y atmosphere. Very obvious high staff turnover rate. Strangely corporate and rigid for a job centered around working with kids and trying to make learning fun. Prepare to be micromanaged. Very little training for a job that requires some pretty high-level teaching skills. Obvious favoritism among employees. Little opportunity for advancement. No reciprocal relationship between management and employees. Have a good idea? Keep it to yourself. This is a very "Keep your head down and do what you are told" type of place.

A Bit Intense

Pros

- Great, supportive coworkers! - Opportunity to learn new skills in how to effectively teach reading skills and work with students with difficult behaviors.

Cons

- Very micro-manage-y environment. They did not want me to clock in a minute early or late because they did not want to pay overtime. - Frequently, a coworker would sit in on my sessions with students and give me feedback on my teaching. This would sometimes happen four times in a day. - Though I was technically a full-time employee and had to have full availability, I would often be scheduled for part-time hours. - Strict dress code. Once I dressed up in soccer shorts for "Olympics Day" on a Wednesday and was made to go home and put on pants because my knee-length shorts were "too short." - Expectation to work all holidays.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Lindamood-Bell. Your input is important to us. Every summer, seasonal clinicians help us make a difference in the lives of students. With our training and expertise, and your enthusiasm and skills, we make consistent gains with students year after year. Our research-validated instruction requires consistent delivery of our programs. One way we ensure quality instruction is by providing training, support, and feedback to summer clinicians. Our student outcomes depend on it. We appreciate your feedback about our student-based schedule, number of scheduled holidays, and pay rate. While we communicate these details to candidates, we will take your comments into consideration. We absolutely want seasonal clinicians to be prepared and excited about our typical summer schedule. Also, we’re happy to have raised the starting rate for 20+ locations this year! We are constantly making changes to improve the experience for our learning center staff. Thank you again for your review.
