      Enjoyable Experience, Quick Training, Great for Entry-level Teaching

      Pros

      I was able to receive the job with only having a GED after having had a pretty fantastic interview where I was able to share some of what makes me a great teacher and a unique person, and that was enough. I enjoyed the teaching model that focuses on cultivating imagination and a powerful visualization sense. I got to work 1-on-1 with students in a way that felt meaningful. It seemed like there was a lot of room for upward growth.

      Cons

      Very few downsides other than those inherent to the corporate teaching student/teacher model itself. A lot of my students were young boys with various learning difficulties, and a lot of them were excited to engage with me, and me them, though due to professional boundaries, I was unable to show up as a role model/engaged teacher in ways I would have liked (i.e. I had various students into making music, and I'm a musician, but from what I was told, I wasn't legally allowed to offer my services as a music instructor). I left that job to go onto leading youth wilderness journeys through the Washington back-country, which fulfilled my need for deeper involvement.
