Pros

Working students is rewarding. In good learning centers, your colleagues are amazing. Pays well once you get a couple promotions.

Cons

Corporate leaders do not care about employees whatsoever. Revenue drives every decision. Very disloyal executives. Huge relational gap between workers and executives. Pettiness and self-importance has permeated their home office. I was often asked to put families in a financial bind so that revenue would increase. Far too many meetings. They differentiate instruction for students, but not for employee needs. Spend way too much money on high-end decor that could make instruction cheaper. Hourly rate for instruction could easily be reduced to allow more kids to get the help they need. If you’re not a clone of what they want, you will not be treated with respect. Employees are viewed as cogs in a machine.

Pros

A resume-booster in some people's eyes Some kids can be a joy to teach Paid training

Cons

Training was an abysmal full two weeks of 8 hour video sessions - horrible. Micromanagement to the third degree. You have to teach a child, take notes on every little detail of their session, ensure you follow a rigorously constructed list of things to do TO A T, and use a scripted set of rewards to "motivate" them. Almost all of my coworkers were soulless zombies. There was no sense of comradery or team work at my center. There also are no incentives in place for clinicians to do exceptional work. Pay is disgustingly low for how much lindamood bell charges for their sessions. This is corporate greed at its worst. Lindamood Bell's learning methods simply cannot help some of the kids that are let in. Mind you, some of these children had severe behavioral issues that nobody was trained to deal with at all. Also, the utter inflexibility of lesson plans and content is disappointing. A company that specializes in teaching should realize that one size does not fit all when it comes to children learning. Scheduling was so haphazard you could never rely on having a set number of hours.

Pros

Flexible schedule, supportive management, good pay, and great experience working with kids!

Cons

Sometimes the schedule can be a bit hectic or unpredictable (like student changes at the last minute before a session), but my center was very good about trying to be supportive if this was happening.
