Pros

- good way to start in the professional world - can make great friends here - leadership, if good, makes the workload and relationship between manager and CD more effective and efficient - routine is easy here

Cons

- no work life balance/ workload is heavy at times - a lot of burnout in the consultant roles - a lot of call-outs that you have to learn to deal with - high turnover even for newly hired employees

Pros

In-depth training Built-in worker appreciation Regimented schedule with exact instructions for everything you do Adapts with the times (in my 4 years we went from 100% analog to 100% digital.)

Cons

Even at the highest ranks, you are underpaid and overworked. I received a raise and was put in salary for a summer, but since I was working over time every single day, I was actually making less an hour. If you don’t have experience with children, it can take a lot of time to build up tactics. Your success relies on the success of coworkers, and the standards for employment are weak. Many coworkers will think they know better than decades of research and years of hands-on experience. And thus, they will not set you up for success. Unless you get a peek behind the curtain via promotion, you have no idea what’s going on big-picture.

Pros

Training is good. They give you enough time to practice and time to practice all the material.

Cons

1) It is NOT a welcoming atmosphere. When given the office tour, they constantly said "This is XXXX office, but try not to disturb her because she is always busy." Basically, not to bother anyone in the office. 2) Some students do NOT benefit from this program. You can constantly see that they are not getting anything from it, waste entire hours without participating, but parents are never given the suggestion to take them less hours. 3) It is very fast paced and you can't go into the office more than 5 minutes before your shift starts, so there is not enough time to really get prepared, especially if you are beginning. They just don't want you to "clock in" before, but it would be better to allow clinicians to get well prepared before their students arrive.

Regarding instruction, independent research consistently proves what we see in our learning centers daily—Lindamood-Bell instruction improves language and literacy skills for students with dyslexia, autism, and other conditions that may affect learning. While the clinician role may not be a right fit for everyone, the positive effect of our approach should be evident.
