      Organizational issues from the BOC / Linde merger making for a complex work environment

      Pros

      Compensation was great. My salary was slightly higher than industry standard. Benefits package was generous. You just had to work very hard to keep it all

      Cons

      Lots of 'red tape' to get simple tasks done. Customers frustrated with the response time due to the complexity of tasks. Employees buried in paperwork and redundant reporting. The Linde Group is a merger between BOC and Linde. The two corporate cultures don't mesh together well causing organizational challenges. To satisfy both cultures, an employee appears to do double the work.

      Pros

      The pay is competitive, good work/life balance, ability to work remotely, good co-workers, always something new to learn in this industry. I get my work done and no one bothers me. The benefits are excellent.

      Cons

      They are always looking for ways to cut back so it's hard to get new projects approved, new hardware and software, and travel & expense is a pain. IT is mostly handled from Germany and it can take forever to get a response to network or systems problems. They are behind the curve in technology, still using Windows 98 in a large portion of the organization!

      Flexibility in work arrangement, Still some solid people in the right jobs. Great place to advance if you are an young engineer or USMA graduate Good place to get your MBA on them Good international exposure

      Cons

      no diversity of thought very thin workforce lost sense of comraderie after economic downturn no real mentoring going on no accountability
