Pushing ahead to the future

Pros

The company is focused on delivering the next generation of Second Life and the excitement is palpable. Even with that focus, the company is still invested in making Second Life better for its users.

Cons

Can't really think of anything really negative to say. They only have catered lunch once a week.

Pros

Open, inclusive and friendly environment, good benefits, smart people, flexible work hours (but, you need to get your job done) and most teams are small and meet daily. Then there are other perks and benefits, such as free snacks, free Linden lunch Thursdays, waffle day, community work days. For me it is the perfect intersection between the benefits offered by large renowned companies and being able to do game and Virtual Reality development with less pressure as in most game companies (pressure is not nonexistent though obviously). Overall, I love it.

Cons

Satellite offices tend to be smaller and participate less in some of the events of the company. This also hinders communication with part of the company at times, but neither of these are a big deal.

Mixed bag. The co workers ultimately made the experience.

Pros

The people were amazing, smart, dedicated and fun to be around. The product was fun and exciting to work on.

Cons

The company philosophy, or Tao of Linden was ideally for all employees, but in reality did not apply to everyone. It was easy to drink the koolaide with such amazing co workers, but ultimately learning that sexism was rampant (female co workers were paid much less, and while we were not allowed to discuss salaries, it happened anyway) and some employees were treated poorly in other departments, the bubble burst for me, and I left before the layoff.
