Poor Middle Management

Pros

Typically most people will help you on your team. There is a culture of making you hunt for answers which can waste time but now that Glean has come onboard it has been easier.

Cons

A few years ago LI started hiring younger middle management leaders and it has completely deteriorated the culture and trust. If your leader is immature, you might want to start looking internally for a new role, because I have had many peers burned by their immature direct leader, even when their superiors disagree.

Pros

•Got some brilliant individual contributors on product, design, and eng. •Compensation is competitive

Cons

•Extremely political, muddled with upper management that has been struggling to adapt to new workload expected. •No longer cares about talent, actively pushes out good workers, and doesn't reward based on contribution. •Work life balance can be non-existent, the amount of times I've lost track of the times management has asked me to deliver significant design changes by Monday at 5 PM on Friday, only to not hear any appreciation and instead get punished in different ways.

Pros

Certain teams you can rest and vest.

Cons

Leadership is comically bad, they just follow what other big tech companies do, and consistently gaslight employees if any challenging questions are posed. Huge amount of legacy code that's creaking under the site's load. Engineering leadership is scrambling to modernize infrastructure and tooling. The pay is decent. The culture sucks. It reminds me of the 'this is fine' dog with the burning building behind it.
