Future employees be Warned

Pros

Good pay. Other then that avoid this place at all cost

Cons

I don’t write reviews often, but I feel like it was my duty as a as person to warn future employees before accepting a job at liveramp. There is absolutely no work life balance even though it is brought up time and time again by employee surveys and upper management has just ignored it. Over the past couple years I have been with the company I have seen over 10+ people leave my team within a year. The fact that HR has not taken notice on this is crazy to me. Clearly there is something wrong with upper management and how the team is managed. I hope this review helps people avoid this company while and helps liveramp improve its culture.

Fellow LiveRamper - It sounds as though work/life balance is a concern for you, and understandably so—especially during the pandemic. And despite frustrations with your team's leadership, you've stayed with LiveRamp over several years and I can infer that you care about our team. Thank you for your hard work and commitment. Even during these challenging times, LiveRamp is growing and thriving thanks to the everyday heroism of our teammates. My door is always open to talk through the concerns you shared here. - Brandon

Pros

Generally, the company is high performing and most employees are great. You get to work with top clients and on innovative solutions. From a compensation perspective, I do think employees are well compensated between salary, stock, and benefits. The company culture, for the most part, is very positive.

Cons

One major con and risk of the company is the Addressability team and one specific leader who's been called out multiple times in the past. The company is banking A LOT on 1) our addressability solutions (which are definitely market leading) and 2) on a specific leader on the team that's extremely toxic (see past reviews as well). While the product itself may be fine, the Addressability team has had major turnover and has created a decent amount of cross-functional friction as well as friction with certain partners/clients - and that's all primarily because of this individual. He's enabled and continues to promote a cut-throat, hostile environment where employees literally dread joint calls together. Moreover, it's widely known within the company that this individual has had multiple run-ins with HR, and not much has changed over the last few years. Unfortunately, he's been given a lot of power and that has been to the detriment of those that have to work with him, both on his team and cross-functionally (commercial leads, marketing, etc.). Because of this individual, multiple top performers have left the company and a few have switched to other teams to stay further away from him. Higher level leadership has acknowledged the problem but not much has been done to fix it, so my advice to leadership is to actually create a plan and actively work on a resolution to this toxic problem that continues to grow.

Fellow LiveRamper - I'm glad that you're having a good experience as part of the LiveRamp team, with teammates you admire, world-class customers, and innovative solutions. Pros

+1 star for: -Good pay and you don't have to work hard. Seriously, there are people that skate by for years doing almost nothing. -Legitimately good at internal transfers and role changes. Willing to let people try new things. -A nice office in a convenient location (SF)

Cons

Pretty much everything else. Look, it's adtech, so you shouldn't be expecting to be inspired and passionate about your work. It's professional BS artists slinging BS at other BS artists. Know that coming in. Even with that said, it's a hollow place, and I'm legit confused by all the positive reviews on here. The company hasn't truly rolled out a new product in years and all the current stuff they like to crow about is vaporware. The product & engineering planning and execution is laughable - it's almost impossible to get anything done and everything is factionalism and fiefdoms. Development is driven entirely by promises made by sales and exec to big-name customers without bothering to think about whether the product supports it or even makes sense as part of some larger vision or strategy. That's because the only vision is "close more deals." The people at the top stumbled into and inherited a good thing (almost none of the people who started and built the company have stuck around) and think they're savvy leaders when really they mostly just were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. There is a good original business here, but that kernel of quality has since been covered by layers and layers of botched execution and an inability to focus on anything for more than 2 months. Executive ranks are bloated by absorbing too many leaders from acquired companies without a plan for what they'll do. You end up with a closed-off inner circle that doesn't have their pulse on what's actually happening and nobody actually focused on execution. Don't believe them when they say they have a solution for 3p cookies - nobody does and everyone is hoping someone else will bail them out.

LiveRamp alum - You're right—your perception is indeed different from so many of our teammates'. I'd invite you to follow-up to talk through some of what you've shared here. Meanwhile, check out our recent announcement with The Trade Desk regarding our post-cookie solution—the partnership is a clear indication of the product's value, and a testament to the hard work of many of our people. Best wishes for the next chapter of your career—and again, virtual coffee on me if you'd like to talk through your comments. - Brandon
