Pros

Name recognition goes a long way as the #1 Defense Contractor in the US and/or the world. Lots of people to network from and contracts are added every week.

Cons

Such a huge organization that it does not flow well between branches. It is almost 5-6 giant companies under one roof basically. At first I thought it would be easy to move around the company, but that's completely false - they will pigeon hole you to a contract as long as possible. The HR people are just shining their PM's shoes and rather not rattle the boat. So as long as you're billable, expect 1-2% yearly raises, no bonus and minimum training. My advice is to fight hard up front for your rate because it will not go up much year after year.

Pros

Lockheed Martin is generous enough to hire you right out of college and start you into the Corporate America assimilation program, which is a prereq for a lot of other large companies.

Cons

Working at LMCO is like living in this terrible mix of Dilbert and Office Space. It's almost unbelievable the stranglehold that HR has on company policies. I left on good terms, but shudder at the thought of ever going back.
