Pros

Pro: Food in the office Pro: Laid back environment

Cons

Aside from the pros, Long View is less than mediocre and one of the worst companies in the industry to uphold client expectations with huge turnover. Con:  The company has a tendency to oversell and over-promise and then fail to meet expectations.  One of their values as integrity but their actions speak otherwise when they oversell on their clients knowing they very well do not have the resources, expertise or capacity to fulfill their commitments.  It is very common to have the company throw their consultants into engagements with little or no expertise leaving them to fend for themselves.    Con:  Like all companies, their main objective is to maximize their revenue but the difference  with this company is that it comes at the expense of their employees.  For example, as a technical consultant, any courses taken would be retro-actively paid by the consultant's upcoming incentives.  Any company that is interested in building their people would not charge back training to their people's bonuses.  Often employees are left with tiny or zero incentive even after highly billable quarter which can be extremely frustrating and a sense of disbelief.   Also, the timesheets and invoices are often manipulated by management which results in lower than expected expenses.  This practice is extremely sketchy but happens and by the time you find out or even notice, there is nothing you can do about it. Con:  95% of the projects are tiny with no more than 1-3 resources.  Given the projects are small, so are the budgets.  If you want to grow your career and work on amazing and awesome projects, this place is not for you.  If you want to work on 10 projects with with bits and pieces here and there and feel scattered, then this company is for you.  Don't be mistaken though, Long View will gladly bite off more than they can chew but do not have the capacity, structure or management to undertake big projects which often lead to failure.  Any large projects or clients that sign with Long View will be severely disappointed. Con:  The majority of the management is very green.  They are extremely inexperienced and more often than not fail to deliver on promises. If you want to by led and inspired by great leaders of tomorrow with something to offer their employees, this place is not for you.  If you want to attend monotonous meetings, hear promises that are never fulfilled and roll your your eyes while listening to quotes taken from the internet, this place will suit you.   Con:  Career progression is a nil.  There is no process in competing for roles. There is no HR process. It's an old boys club like what the other posts have stated. Immense nepotism is the norm. Any open position has already been determined on who will take it before it has been announced. Proceed with extreme caution if you are thinking of joining this company.  Better yet, turn around and don't waste your time. If you are a potential client, save your frustrations and find an alternative.  Despite being told what you want to hear, the management at Long View will not look out for your best interests.

Pros

I cant think of anything really to be honest

Cons

I had the unfortunate experience of working for LongView Systems that I can only describe as a nightmare. This company's mistreatment of its staff, its complete disregard for providing opportunities, and its blatant racism are absolutely appalling. First and foremost, the way this company treats its employees is nothing short of disgraceful. It's clear that they have no respect for the hardworking individuals who dedicate their time and effort to making the company successful. From my own personal experience, I can attest to the lack of basic respect and dignity that employees are afforded. Management often belittles and demeans their staff, creating a hostile and toxic work environment that is detrimental to employee well-being. Moreover, this company's complete failure to provide any meaningful opportunities for its employees is glaringly evident. People of color are routinely overlooked for promotions, subjected to microaggressions, and face systemic racism in their day-to-day work. It's disheartening to witness such a flagrant disregard for diversity, equity, and inclusion in today's world.

Good for a foot in the door, but nothing else

Pros

A few good coworkers, good friends, free pop

Cons

Long View will hire anyone. Their standards are extremely low. This is good for the SAIT student fresh out of their program, as it allows them to get a foot in the door, but it has been said over and over by many employees that Long View is a place to get their few years of experience, and then find a better career elsewhere. Long View pays their staff the absolute bare minimum and takes much of what they charge to clients. The rates are not at all competitive, despite what they say. The good employees are barely recognized for their efforts, other than vague promises of a promotion, and excuses in performance reviews to prevent Long View from paying staff any more money. Training opportunities that are promised to staff, come with the condition that those in line for promotions receive the training first. If these employees don't complete their training, you are out of luck and in limbo to receive training. LVS will hire one good employee in 50. Their minimum requirement to hire analysts is someone who breathes, or someone who is content to make $5 more than minimum wage for the next 40 years of their career. All companies that LVS supports, suffer greatly from incompetent analysts, and a management team that can't seem to control their team. They do not care if their clients hate their services. If clients leave, they are able to replace them immediately with several more that have no idea what they are in for. The people they hire have no technical skills, no personal skills, and no desire to work. They are just bodies to answer the phones, and no one seems to have a single brain between them. It was not until COVID that LVS even considered allowing employees the option of working from home. If you weren't in the office, they can't control your time. Good luck if you feel sick and want to work from home more than a few days. Management gets upset if you aren't sitting in a chair under their watch. There were good times at Long View, but only with a select few coworkers. Most of the management rules with an iron fist. A few have power trips and short tempers. Anything you can do to make your shift more enjoyable is quickly turned down by management. They monitor everything; internet usage, time in the bathroom, if you were 3 minutes late to work. Everything is recorded and you face punishment if you break any rules. HR here is not in your best interest. They are in the interest of the company only, and it shows. They will do anything to protect Long View's reputation and support their goal of a 100 year company. Bad media that shines a light on LVS is dusted under the rug in order to save their own reputation. They only care that they look good enough to pull in a few more unsuspecting clients. I have seen many, many clients, absolutely fed up with the service they received, unless they have enough money to hire their own dedicated team of staff. Even then, the turnover is so high, that new people are constantly coming in and drastically lowering the bar even further. If you are considering working here, know that it is just a place to get your few years of experience, and then get out. Get out quickly, because LVS fires a large number of their staff each year. They do not care about you. You are just a money making machine to them until you are no longer in their best interest. All the positive reviews likely come from employees that haven't been spited yet. It happens to everyone who works there long enough. I wouldn't trust a single positive review. Every former employee tends to have the same opinion of LVS. Whether they have been out of the company for 10 years, or 1.
