Pros

Some really great organic cultural elements. Staff driven wellness committee, soccer team, corporate challenge etc. Can be a fun place to work. Lots of great people work at Long View, sadly lots of great people leave Long View

Cons

Exec is out of touch with staff. Company communication is hit and miss. Seems like high turnover but 'they' say everything is great. Mixed messages. Old Boys club for sure. Check out the Exec page on the site. Pretty male and pretty white. Diversity and gender don't seem like a concern. Incentives are a joke, never calculated the same way twice.

Weak direction and talking heads equals more layoffs

Pros

Great consultants to work with and learn from. Great account managers who care about business and their people.

Cons

Repeatedly hiring weak branch managers in Calgary and having high turnover is stealing the heart of the company. Inability to execute or lead is a problem from people in these roles. Summer 2018 is going to have tons of layoffs again.

While we welcome all feedback and appreciate your concern, your statement of layoffs happening this summer at Long View is simply untrue. Also, we are quite proud of our current turnover rate in Calgary which is very low. With all of the great initiatives we are working on, in unification with our General (Branch) Manager who has been with us for 10 years, we are excited about our future! Will you please reach out to your direct manager or People Services Manager so we can hear more of your thoughts, understand your concerns further and also be able to share some positive news with you? We look forward to hearing from you.

Pros

Appear to be professional at the surface when hiring you.

Cons

1. Unethical recruiters and project managers 2. The company will hire you as a permanent full time employee and then increase your rate and offer you a contract. Once that happens, they will cancel your contract and let you go. It happened to a few full time employees. Be very careful when accepting any offers. There is no job guarantee and theirs moral and ethical values do not exist 3. If you are hired as a short term contractor you may not get fully paid for your hours. You may be on site full time but if the project is delayed or there is not enough work, you will not get paid for being in office. You will be blamed for being in office and you will be asked an hour-by-hour report so your hours can be approved. 3. Even if you do not get paid for being available, and being physically in office, you will only get paid for hours you worked. You will not get paid for being in office if it was a slow day or the project work is halted by the client for any reason Be very careful before you accept any offers.

Hello, we appreciate you taking the time to post a review. Being ethical is of the utmost importance to us, and as Integrity is our #1 core value, we don’t take comments like yours lightly. We have a dedicated People Services Manager in Toronto that would be happy to work through your concerns with you, so that we may learn more about your experience. It seems that you may have misunderstood the intentions with your unique situation of becoming a contractor, after initially being hired on as a full time employee. Please reach out to her so we can ensure that moving forward you have the proper information as to how our company works. We look forward to hearing from you!
