Pros

I did mediation at DCBA and it was great experience, especially when just starting out, because I got to work on my own, hands-on with clients to settle disputes and I got to work in court cases pre-trial, on-site.

Cons

It was an unpaid internship, and actually getting hired takes a long time because it's an inefficient process of testing twice, and giving an interview. Unfortunately, knowing people doesn't help to get hired in government job, you still have to go through the process.
