Pros

The management is transparent and open and there are many opportunities for advancement within the County. Also, great benefits in terms of health insurance, retirement plans, etc.

Cons

After you've been working for the County for awhile, it is almost impossible to get reprimanded to the point of getting fired, so work production tends to get lax at times.

Pros

4/10 work schedule with every Friday off; great pay; variety of possible assignments; young department with lots of idealism; SOME managers are outstanding planners and great people.

Cons

Senior management is cowardly, especially with respect to the Board of Supervisors and the public; senior management behaves more like elected officials trying to please every single constituent to the detriment of staff; bogus "acting" promotions require more work, responsibilities, and stress without the pay.
