Pros

Fantastic leadership, great benefits, government pensions, generous pay, frequent raises, hiring/promoting from within, 4-day workweek, liberal telework options.

Cons

I can only speak to the Department of Human Resources. My friends are annoyed at hearing me say how much I like working for LA County DHR.

Pros

Positive work environment, great training, satisfying work with a great moral purpose to help children. Many resources and learning opportunities are provided for career advancement. Good work schedule.

Cons

Promotions are limited and very competitive. Promotional exams are very difficult, and promotions require several rounds of interviews. Salary is lagging, not keeping pace with the steep inflation.
