Pros

Honorable mission, no real future

Cons

Constant budget cuts. Looks like the company is about to be sold they way they’re pinching Pennie’s.

Thank you for reviewing and sharing your feedback. Our industry continues to face economic challenges, and we made difficult changes over the past year in order to be better prepared for the future. As the owner of the L.A. Times has said, they are committed to building a sustainable business and ensuring that the L.A. Times is here to serve the community for generations to come.

Pros

Incredible and passionate team of journalists and editors doing their best under hard circumstances

Cons

The top managment and ownership has no real plan, and is chaotically imrpovising. The ship is sinking and they're trying to fix it by selling off the sails

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that the layoffs earlier this year were unsettling. As the company’s owner and management have shared with the staff, the economic reality for a news organization right now is extremely challenging, and the L.A. Times faces the same challenges. Despite the owner’s willingness to continue to invest, we needed to take steps to improve our cash position while we continue executing on our plans. The reduction in workforce was not a reflection of the hard work and dedication shown by any of the employees. The decision to proceed with layoffs was made only after evaluating all other viable options.
