Pros

-You're working with a historic brand, so you have a sense of pride when you go in each morning. -The work environment is very friendly. Everyone is warm and nurturing. Always there to lend a helping hand. -Very good work-life balance. There's a company gym. No long hours. - Good communication and synergy between the departments. Good team-building.

Cons

- There was high turnover due to the bankruptcy. Lots of layoffs and no job security. - Constant change of upper mgmt led to office politics playing a big role in who gets promoted, let go, etc. - Company was a bit slow to adapt to evolving technology. - Company goals and initiatives were too short-sighted at times. Went for immediate results and not the big picture.

Pros

Major metropolitan daily in diverse, exciting city with many complex and important stories to cover.Legacy of journalistic excellence. Decent benefits.

Cons

Financials uncertain emerging from bankruptcy with new publisher. Transition from print to digital makes for high-pressure newsroom with different standards depending on the platform. Many waves of buyouts/reductions have depleted the staff of many of its most seasoned editors and writers.
