Pros

Decent pay for retail Works well with outside interests (i.e. school/college) as long as you work well while on the clock Management promotes a much more positive atmosphere than Home Depot (major competitor) I've made a lot of life long friends w/employees and former employees Opportunity for advancement

Cons

Takes advantage of salaried management by overworking and part time employees by cutting hours Sometimes positive atmosphere can seem a little flimsy Like most companies nowadays - you will often spend an extended period of time jumping through hoops during the hiring process Payscale is flimsy at best - they will hire you on for as little as you will take only to find out later through communications with other employees regarding pay (which are not allowed) how bad that "got you" (I made more than many of my managers and upon interviewing a completely restaffed store they tried to tell me the position I was applying for did not pay what I was asking) Often times can become "highschool-like" in employee/management gossip Often times your position depicts a responsibility yet other duties are required. Teamwork is the only way to create a win/win situation for everyone

Pros

Advancement opportunity on store operations side is great. Compensation is above industry average for salaried employees. Bonus opportunity for salaried managers is great.

Cons

Field operations carrer advancement is extremely limited. Often, field management dvancement is hindered because of relocation costs. Company seems to have "knee jerk" reactions, rather than planned ahead programs.
