Alone on a sinking ship.

Pros

Very little oversight. Wear whatever clothes you want to work. Generous amounts of breaks.

Cons

No managers present on 3rd shift. It's an 8 hour free-for-all where every employee tries to do as little as possible. Not allowed to leave store for lunch break or smoke breaks. Store temperature is bumped up at night to reduce electric bill. Employees found sleeping on the job given 2nd chances. Rampant callouts. As of the time of this post, I haven't seen my direct report in over 4 months.

Pros

No pros, never worked with so many miserable people in my entire life. Management treats its people like cattle.

Cons

Forget what your told in an interview., your jobs duties are at the whim of uneducated, inexperienced and in one case drunk managers, Youre schedule is designed to break you down to the point where you don't know what day it is,. No employee handbook or grievance procedures, Youre every move is watched on camera, your conversations are recorded in the breakroom. Management treats you a sub human,.. Im a vet, worked construction for 30 years, took a part time retirement job at lowes. Management is just pure evil. Stay away at all cost...its not worth it.

Pros

Pretty office, has cafeteria, casual dress

Cons

Unprofessional workplace. Can't realistically compete with Amazon, although 1/2 staff think the top competitor is Home Depot. Lowe's has a gossipy and chummy environment - it really matters who you befriend. Management tries to stress that staff is friends, have a happy hour, "hang out together after work" "you guys should go drinking" "go have a happy hour together and hang out." It feels like they are trying to engineer a Google-like culture by attempting to force culture. With I-77 construction and traffic, Lowe's is a 45-minute drive from Charlotte. If you take the work-from-home perk offered to staff then you are shamed by your peers and immediate managers for taking them.
