Great company - bad compensation

Pros

The people at Lucid is excellent, and their recruiting efforts have been successful in bringing together a group of wonderful individuals. The management team is also great. However, the recent shift to a top-down approach across lucid has altered the perception of managers among individuals. They are now viewed as just that… managers. Rather than 'leaders' who are (were) respected for soliciting and advocating for change within their respective teams. They're no longer trusted to lead change, just follow orders from execs. Great data and platform team for all user reports, usage stats that you could ask for. Good enablement content for revenue teams. Comfortable office. Great product. It's an excellent mature company outside of the glaring compensation issue.

Cons

Compensation, in order to understand this feedback it would be helpful to understand historical context: In the pre-COVID era, Lucid was an outstanding place to work. Even then Lucid's compensation model was below average for the Utah market, yet employees were willing to accept this for the exceptional office culture. With the rise of remote work, however, this model has become increasingly untenable. Despite the changing landscape, Lucid has not yet adapted to meet even Utah compensation, let alone the national averages. No, i'm not talking about competitive bay-area/big city compensations i'm talking actual averages. This issue has been recognized by the senior leadership, who view market and competitive compensation as 'simply not in line with Lucid's philosophy.' It was interesting to see that with the recent round of layoffs, all of my effected colleagues (excluding two junior people) have successfully secured new roles with higher base salaries than all of the IC’s on our our team at Lucid even higher bases than our managers.

Pros

The people at Lucid are great to work with & the culture is amazing. The work life balance is great as well. Its a good place to get started in your career & get some experience but not a great place to stay long term. The company is not transparent with company financials at all. No information is provided on how the company is doing. Despite being frugal & profitable, Lucid laid off 7% of the company last year

Cons

The compensation is very low & so is the equity. They have also cut back on a lot of benefits lately.

Pros

Good work life balance. Codebase and development tools are good and it is easy to push code.

Cons

Pay is mediocre in comparison to similar companies. Management gives vague feedback if you fail to promote, and promotions are largely dependent on the "flashiness" of your team's projects (which you don't have any control over). Mid-year review cycles are not in-depth, so you have a year between each chance at promotion or salary adjustment.
