Pros

It’s a very effective lesson in what unchecked ego and poor leadership look like in practice.

Cons

This company has one of the most hostile and unprofessional cultures I’ve encountered. The sales floor is almost entirely male, and women are routinely spoken over, dismissed, or treated as secondary. This behavior is normalized and in some cases, implicitly encouraged. Any claims of valuing diversity or inclusion feel purely cosmetic. Diversity overall is severely lacking across teams and especially within management. Advancement appears insular, with the same voices amplified repeatedly while others are ignored. New perspectives are NOT welcomed unless they align perfectly with existing leadership opinions, specifically the CFO who tends to feel threatened when any type of feedback is presented. Pay is far below industry standards, especially considering the expectations placed on employees. The company demands high output, long hours, and constant availability while offering compensation that does not remotely reflect market rates. People burn out quickly and leave as soon as they realize how underpaid they are. There were also serious ethical red flags. There were many situations where financial performance and internal metrics were selectively adjusted, reframed, or emphasized differently depending on what best served management at the time. Transparency is apparently flexible and if you talk to anyone who isn’t kissing the ring, trust in leadership is nonexistent. Management behavior only worsened these issues. It’s common for managers to openly speak negatively about employees and other leaders behind their backs. There is a lot of ego in leadership and behavior driven by gossip, fear, and self-preservation rather than professionalism or accountability. Respect was inconsistent and often conditional. Overall, this is a workplace where favoritism, poor judgment, and questionable practices are treated as normal. I do not recommend.

Pros

Lucid demonstrates a strong alignment between its stated values and its actions, particularly in how it supports and invests in its employees. The executive leadership team consistently shows genuine care for the organization and its people, which is not always common across companies.

Cons

During periods when major initiatives were introduced by the executive team, the overall environment often became tense. Rather than motivating employees to rally behind these initiatives, the pressure appeared to cascade downward, with frontline management bearing the brunt of it. This often resulted in ineffective execution at the frontline level, as expectations were communicated through frustration rather than constructive leadership. In some cases, training sessions included public criticism or embarrassment of representatives, which further reduced morale. Additionally, there was a recurring pattern of leadership speaking negatively about sales floor employees. While senior leadership at the VP level demonstrated strong capabilities, frontline management frequently appeared to lack respect for high-performing contributors, even those who consistently exceeded their targets.
