Great company - high bar on what it means to operate

Pros

This is a great company. The leadership truly cares about the employees. This shows in the effort they put into things like budgets for people to bond and offsites/activities. It also shows in they trust their hires to do great work and much of management's effort at all levels is about how to empower their team.

Cons

The deeply embedded belief on empowerment does come with a few cons. One is that there often isn't a clear path for what it means to "do well." It's sort of, "you figure out how to help the company best, and then go do it." It also results in more bureaucracy. More people can have an opinion on more things so consensus buy-in is often required, even for things that aren't expected.

Pros

- Incredibly smart, inspired people work here - Values-driven culture - The benefits that Lucid provided are industry-leading options - Lucid mgmt focuses more on action than they do on what they say and advertise or market to employees - there's actual follow through - Tons of awesome ways to invest in my personal development, from internal courses and workshops to support from my direct manager. - Hybrid work policy so I can work from my home office or in the office whenever I want. 30+ states that I can relocate to if I wanted to.

Cons

The financial planning / budget process feels highly inefficient. The FP&A team makes us go through this entire process (with zero to little clear communication) where we need to fight for our budget. Then when we go to spend the money later that year, that was approved, we're often told we can't spend it... It's the most annoying part of my job. I think all of this stems from an abysmal procurement process, but someone was hired to help out with this. Unfortunately it sounds like their plan is to cut licenses to our procurement/payment vendor, which honestly is going to make things way worse. We'll see how it goes, I guess.
