Pros

- Managed so poorly that I survived a whole year and 3 months after they tried to get me fired for no reason. - Pay is average for the region. - Entirely possible to sit at home doing zero work for weeks on end if you're completely unethical, because work objectives change so fast and frequently that nothing ever gets done anyway. No I did not do that, but in hindsight I probably should have. Oh also, they're investing a huge amount of money in diversity and inclusion so that all people can suffer equally. Not sure if that should really count as a morally good action in their case.

Cons

I had an entire 3000 word essay written about how poorly management treated not only myself but another worker who I knew while working there, but I can't sufficiently anonymize it. Had it not been for covid I would have quit at the end of March of 2020. Unfortunately, due to the economic effects of covid, I ended up working until 2021. My layoff was a mercy, and even then the HR department tried to pretend that I was laid off "for cause" until I asked them about it and got it in writing that they would not obstruct my unemployment benefits. Over my time working at Lumentum, I gained fifty pounds, slept an average of four hours a night from insomnia, experienced frequent heart palpitations, and had I had the energy to see a psychologist they likely would have put me on immediate stress leave. This was due mainly to the poor management of my team and the absolutely toxic personalities of the people I was forced to work with, along with other more private issues which could personally identify me if brought up in this review. I also ended up working a COMPLETELY different job to the one I was hired for only four months into my time at Lumentum, to the point that literally nothing on my resume was being used in the position. I never received any relevant training for the new position, despite requesting it multiple times. By the time I left the team I was on, I was the employee who had been on that team the longest besides the manager. Everyone else who had been there longer than me had quit. One teammate put in his two weeks notice on the spot after being reprimanded mid-meeting by a higher manager about things she had specifically told him to do. As in, she told him to make X, then insulted him in front of half a dozen other managers for making X. This kind of thing was not an isolated incident, and I also was subject to it, among other professionally inappropriate behavior. I filed complaints and was never informed of the results. Do not work for this company unless you are being paid an excessive amount of money to do so.
