Pros

Once you leave, you get to marvel and laugh at how poorly administered the company you worked for was.

Cons

A lot of the positive reviews have the same language that Lumity is a "typical startup". My guess is that these reviews come from the same person, but who really knows. This is a four year old company, that recently patted themselves on the back for being around that long. The irony of a 4 year old company still calling themselves a "typical startup" must be lost on them. "Typical startups" don't include members of the executive staff talking at length and excruciating detail about their love lives (for lack of better phrasing) with female employees. "Typical startups" don't create a process for client security, then force themselves to throw those policies out the window because they procrastinated on getting work done for a client, then had to rush because they promised a finish date. But it's ok, because at a "typical startup", the CEO spends 2 hours playing video games in the middle of a work day instead of working on the project, right? A "typical startup" does offer unlimited PTO. How great! What a wonderful work/life balance offer to employees, and a great way to recruit. What a "typical startup" does not do is publicly admonish employees for using that PTO, shaming them in front of colleagues. "Typical startups" work very hard. Lumity is no different. However, "typical startups" don't give you zero training or guidance when a project is being worked on by brand new hires. Lumity has a sink or swim approach, which would not be bad, if they gave you any idea what they considered swimming. It's a sink approach, they just don't know it yet. Either way, by a four year birthday, companies have developed cultures, processes, leadership and a North Star. Lumity has none of those. There are many more cons than this, because Lumity is not a "typical startup". If you're considering working for them, I would ask them hard questions. If you're a client of theirs, I would ask them harder ones. Your future and your security have a value.
