Pros

- Generous staff discount - Atmosphere in store was lovely - Made some great friends in the team - Products were really fun to demo - I loved doing consultations, particular on skincare

Cons

Extreme favouritism from upper management - our Trainee Manager was passed over for Store Manager role despite running our store well for 6 months by herself. Middle management in store showed favouritism - their friends were allowed to do no work with nothing said, while other, hardworking staff were held to different expectations. Barely any training for new supervisors - several staff in my store suffered with MH issues and I wasn't properly equipped to support them which led to severe issues with my own MH. No HR support - Staff member was verbally abusive to me and 2 other supervisors and escaped a disciplinary with no warning and no further action. Having to push sale of products on customers that weren't suitable for them purely to reduce wasteage.

Pros

-50% discount, free stuff all the time -have made genuine friends with many coworkers -schedule is flexible if you’re in school

Cons

- disgusting, disrespectful pay for all they expect of you - workload at all levels is above and beyond what any retail job should require - management constantly in rotation because they always realized they’re doing a crazy amount of work for pennies which leads to constant shifts in management style and anxiety among employees - used to be a job that was very queer and neurodivergence friendly, but all upper management are becoming less and less understanding - cult-like mentality and ridiculous, pushy sales techniques used - ceo is condescending

Pros

Living Wage not minimum wage, cycle to work scheme, mental health support helpline, flexibility, opportunities for promotion, good ethics, nice discount, friendly co-workers, very supportive of mental health, diversity genuinely appreciated.

Cons

Management will make or break your experience, physically and mentally more demanding than most retail jobs.
