Pros

Workers are very friendly and normally very willing to go out of their way to help you in any way possible. Excellent system in place for training engineers of industry standards and good engineering practices. Plenty of work to be done. Safety metrics are at all time best. Global collaboration between manufacturing sites is significantly improving with sharing of more ideas / problems-solutions.

Cons

Management is very reactive and fear based. Senior management levels require "yes-men" reports (there is very little if any two-way dialog). Competitive work environment leads to some stealing of ideas / work for individual recognition by management. Compensation to heavily based on managements recollection of your recent successes in generating profit. Significant amount of expansion work in progress (capital investment $ up) but employee headcount is down. Human resource limited for multiple years creates higher risk of significant reliability events and/or significant safety/process safety events. Operating lean has benefits and can be done successfully as long as you don't try to do to much. Senior management is running lean while trying major expansions, risk burn-out and missing of warning signs that would prevent major negative event.

Pros

Only Pros about this company is "Pay & Benefit"

Cons

No supportive training for engineers. Lot of people left the company due to too much work load. They talked about safety all the time but nobody really follow any safety rules. Operators are very lazy and laid back. This is a chemical company runs on high pressure. Pleople will scare you with safety related incidents happened to the company.

Many Changes Through The Years

Pros

Good pay with adequate benefits. Health insurance used to be much cheaper. 401k match used to be much better. The company strives to be very safe even though I feel reliability is slipping and this could affect the future safety of the company.

Cons

Many things have changed as we "ALIGN" with corporate. ALL these corporate alignments have been negative. Reduced health benefits, greatly reduced pension (glad we still have one), and less match on the 401k. The company cant keep engineering staff more than 4 years due to a poor tech ladder compensation. Individuals are recognized and promoted for unknown reasons. When someone is rated less than favorable, there is very little constructive feedback. Under the rating system we have now, some have to be placed at the bottom of the pile. It is not performance based as they tell you, it is Bell Curve based. Rhetoric to Flip The Triangle is constantly preached, but it only applies to the hourly. Middle and upper management are only concerned with how you can make them look better, not how to help you succeed at your job. I would agree with an earlier poster that said you are looked down upon if you strive to leave at quitting time. I've been with the company a long time. I've always just been a number, but now I feel the company could care less whether you stay or go. There seems to be no stability or firm ground in the company.
