Pros

Great pay. Great culture. Good benefits. Pension 401k

Cons

The site I work at is very unconcerned with safety. They expect you to get your daily rounds completed while piling on 12 hours worth of work. They shoot themselves in the foot by trying to maximize production by “patching” maintenance issues and reasons why the unit goes down. Upper management makes very quick and irresponsible decisions to get the unit back up running as quickly as possible, even when they know the issue will arise again even a few days, sometimes hours later. They also seem to not care about following procedures on how to go about doing things, and expect you to cut corners to be able to get them done as fast as possible. The worst part of this site is the training. It is set up to where the other outside operators on your shift train you instead of having a dedicated training position. This is counter productive because it puts an extra load on the operator training the other employee because they are expected to work their job as well as train the new hire on the job lower than them. Also, when you train from an outside guy, you will only learn how to do the job how they were taught how to do it, even if it may not be the correct way. It would benefit them to have a dedicated trainer that way everyone gets the same exact training and do things the same way. On top of all this you are supposed to train within 3 months but they give you two weeks and expect you to be able to work the job alone and pass the test.

Bad leadership & changes

Pros

Salaries are competitive to industry. Flexible working hours including working from home three days a week. Flex time to show up.

Cons

Fiefdom culture in which everyone does what's best for their careers / direct businesses at higher levels. Authority is top heavy to make a big decision in a very risky adverse culture. As a result, company functions within small fiefdoms and on the short-term. Most people change roles within 2 years so constantly in flux and no reason to take mid to long term views. Per policy, employees can change roles after a year. Nobody retains knowledge or takes long-term actions. As a result, it's a sinking ship and will eventually go bankrupt. New renewable focus but no vision on how to integrate with existing businesses. No centralized vision & leadership, just new silos and fiefdoms. Leaders never agree and are never aligned. Woke policies but mixed leadership views. Very focused on females and non white hires / promotions as opposed to performance. Fails to invest in technology and resources (including people).

Pros

Great benefits, interesting work at a global company, 3 days/week flexibility to work from home

Cons

Too lean. Staff leaves and remaining staff has to pick up work. If a replacement is hired, it can take months to post the position. Promotions and spot bonuses are unevenly distributed, based on manager's interest in pursuing. A big focus on DEI means more training hours and less time for work.
