      Pros

      Strong safety culture. Pay and benefits are above average. Is it worth all the BS? I'm not sure. I haven't worked for enough other companies.

      Cons

      Excessive amount of policies and new initiatives. Often in conflict with one another. Difficult to follow every procedure that comes out and new ones coming every day.

      Pros

      9-8-O schedule and turnaround special comp for salaried employees. Lots of very smart people to work with and learn from. Pay and vacation has been improved in the last couple of years and is probably near best in class if you’re in the Gulf Coast chemical industry. As a whole, a very safe place to work. Housekeeping is great everywhere but the refinery.

      Cons

      All career roads lead to Houston. You might never see your manager as they have consolidated a few too many positions in middle management. Internal politics are a constant distraction. Ineffective performers at all levels are shuffled around rather than coached/let go. A few slime balls in high places are comfortable turning a blind eye to safety/environmental issues if it’s convenient for them to do so. If you need to spend more than $15,000 on anything it will take at least 18 months.
