Pros

When business is good, overtime is plentiful - perhaps too much so. It's not unusual to get a paycheck almost twice the normal 40 hour work week.

Cons

I started out as a Delphi employee at the Vandalia, Ohio plant. MAHLE bought Delphi effective July, 2015, and two months later announced that the Vandalia plant would be closing by the end of 2016, but that no one would lose their jobs - they would be transferred to the Dayton plant. In November, the details of this "generous" offer came to light. Anyone with over 30 years service (5 people) would be allowed to retire. Anyone with over 10 years of service (15 people) would be given a one-time bonus of up to $10,000. Why, you may ask? Because everyone transferring to the Dayton plant would be a new-hire. Good-bye benefits, hello near-minimum wage.

Pros

Wonderful people and work environment within the NAFTA group.

Cons

Systems/processes/nomenclature were developed by Germany without the NAFTA group in mind. German colleagues in Stuttgart can be disrespectful and controlling. Regardless of work experience, NAFTA team members are treated as if they are incapable of performing the duties/functions of their jobs.

Pros

Work is interesting and varied. Never know what each day will bring. Stretching me in directions I didn't expect to go, but the challenge is always welcome

Cons

Very financially driven organisation with constant threat hanging over. Senior management makes some very bad strategic decisions based on the manufacturing mould when the organisation does not manufacture anything. Lack of forthought and knee jerk reactions coupled with the expectation of engineers being able to perform magic is the norm.
