Pros

MAK has a pretty solid reputation in the defense simulation space. Most of the engineers here are smart people and everyone is easy to get along with. I've enjoyed most of my projects so far and management doesn't get in the way of those who show initiative. I'm happy with my work/life balance, and the location is awesome if you reside close to the red line.

Cons

It seems to be getting harder to find new customers. There's not much growth in defense, and cheaper, better-looking videogame technology is impinging into the sim space. I worry that MAK's aging, somewhat cumbersome technology might look like a relic in a few years. Our only real advantage (for now) is that game engine makers don't offer the kind of support and hand-holding that big defense customers look for. Traffic around the office can really suck if you're commuting in from far away.

Pros

MAK is like one big family. The people are awesome and many employees have been there over 10 years, some over 15 and a few over 20! They are the best middleware and COTS vendor in the defense simulation space. Really smart VPs in engineering, marketing and sales. The defense sector has it's ups and downs but MAK has carved out a pretty good niche for itself. Promotions are usually given to the people who do the job they want first, and are then recognized for it with a promotion later. I view this as a positive because it rewards people with drive and ambition.

Cons

There isn't a whole lot of growth in the defense sector (these days). And because they haven't diversified outside of defense and also because the defense sector isn't growing there is very little revenue growth these days.
